A Few Statistics From The Year 2010

A few statistics from the year 2010.

I keep a log of the days I ride to work. I rode 85% of the possible work days in 2010. Since March, I've rode 94% of the possible days. This date is important because I purchased the Symba in February and took possession of her on 27 February 2010. There were six months that I had perfect 100% scores.

There were nineteen days that I couldn't ride last year because of weather or road conditions. The other days I missed were because of mechanical issues. There was a period of three weeks that the dealer had Billie. They gave me a loaner that I rode or the numbers would have been rather bleak. Ironically, I'm not sure they did very much to Billie while they had her. I'm very glad that I now have service support that I can trust.

When I picked up Billie she had 2.7mi. on the odometer. Here's the photo of the odometer on 31 December 2010:
6618 miles.
Mileage on the Symba for 2010 = 6615.3 miles.

A slightly belated Happy New Year! And, may 2011 be a safe and drama free year for us all.

  1. SWEET!!! Some good statistics! Does your service department say Billie's mileage is good or average for a scooter?

Here's to a new year! Hope it is a good one with all the riding days you want! Hugs to Billie! (And your significant other. :) )

  2. I keep hearing that I'm ahead of the curve when it comes to mileage. If we hadn't had the snow in December I suspect I'd been over 7000 miles easily.

I must say that the number of miles that went on Billie increased after the "re-invention" of the service department at my dealer. It was like having a new bike. I am very grateful for that!

Thanks for the well wishes and be safe!

  3. Happy New Year Keith, and congrats on the mileage. I imagine some bikes never see that kind of mileage in a lifetime, let alone in one year.

  4. I am impressed that you can actually ride to work in the middle of winter...As I remember it, it gets cold in MO, How do you manage to ride in the cold.

  6. Dear Keith:

Happy New Year! You bear the coveted title of a "Rounder," a rider who manages to get out and score significant mileage everty month of the year — regardless of the circumstances. This puts you among the ranks of Chris Luhman and Domingo Chang — two riders who do not know the meaning of the word "fear."

I am chargrined to admit that I do not ride in the slush, salt, or heavy grit of winter.

  7. Ms Bluekat: I see older bikes on Craigslist with fewer miles. It is difficult for me to fathom, but I know it is true.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. Hmmm, I wonder how many miles Sam will travel in 2011?

    Happy New Year!

  8. Baron: I think being from Michigan originally gives me a different approach to the cold. Living around snowmobile riders teaches one about dressing warm. Hands continue to be an issue, but I'm working on that, other than the hands I stay nice and toasty.

    Thanks for the comment.

  9. Jim: I am confident that is the first time I have ever been referred to as Symba Mileage Stud. Thank you!

It is always good to hear from you :)

  10. Jack,
Happy New Year! I'm honored to be mentioned in the same sentence as Domingo Chang and Chris Luhman. They are two gentlemen whose riding accomplishments I respect greatly.

Thanks for reading and commenting on my Blog; and thank you for listing me on your Blog list. I appreciate your support.

  11. Great job Keith! I think your dedication to riding has put you in the upper percentage of those who ride. 7000 miles in one year is good. I feel like the average is 1-3k miles. Congrats on making your scoot your primary transport!

PS: Thanks for the kind words.

  12. I would say your 85% is exceptional, as is your mileage of 6615.

    Congrats.

  13. GAW: Thanks. I really appreciate your commenting. Heaven knows you certainly know what kind of weather I ride in :)

A slightly belated Happy New Year. I hope your 2011 brings fewer bumps in the road for you. Take care and keep those feet on the pegs.
