Strange

The weather has been certainly different this winter.

It isn't even February and look what I spied this morning.

I rode to work everyday during the month of December. I rode to work every day this January except two. On those two days the roads were snow covered and slippery. Other than that it has been easy commuting. And, I'm looking at abundant sunshine and temperatures in the 60F's for the rest of January. It's not that the mildness of the Winter is unwelcome, it just seems strange.

One can only wonder what February will bring.

  1. Mild temperatures and already stuff growing... and it is not even that time of the year... something is definitely off.

    1. Sonja,
It certainly does feel like something is off. Oh well, it will be what it will be.

  2. I noticed we have bulbs coming up in our yard too.

The weather is definitely odd this year. Glad you have some warm weather headed your way. Hopefully it isn't followed by freezing temperatures that will harm the new growth on bulbs and evergreen shrubs.

    1. It is difficult for me to imagine this as anything but a fool's spring. I would be surprised if we don't get those freezing temperatures you mentioned. Going into the this winter the long range guessers were saying milder and wetter than normal. It has been milder for sure. Maybe it will remain mild. Heather bought snowshoes and is taking full responsibility for there being no snow so far. But, that doesn't explain the temperatures :)

    1. I hope you are right...but, I doubt it. It is way too early.

  4. If our January is nice then our February & March are usually awful. Only time will tell.

    1. Chris,
I certainly would not be disappointed if it stays mild, but like you I'm expecting it to be otherwise.

  6. Signs of Spring are so far off I think I had forgotten what they look like. Thank you for the reminder...

    1. Richard,
Definitely signs of spring, but alas I think false signs. Still, you are correct. It is good to be reminded of what they look like.

  7. Yep, signs this early of spring blooms scares me. I agree that this is probably a false spring. But it sure is going to play havoc with the cherry blossoms. :(

I hope you are wrong and Spring is here. Winter is not my favoured season, I like Spring the best, then summer. Fall is a let-down because of what follows.

Maybe you could sprinkle some plant food on it to help it along
