Now I See

Would I have noticed this rather densely populated window if I had been in my car today?
I don't think so. Actually, I've driven by this storefront many times in my car and have never noticed these guys. It is obvious they've been there awhile. I don't remember having been down this way on Miss Billie until today and bingo! Now I see.
Same for this bush tucked in an alley on a street I drive down often. Hadn't noticed it before, but now I see.
I doubt I could of missed these wildflowers in bloom even if I were driving. But, I can't say, because fortunately today I wasn't driving. I was riding. Yay!

  1. And that is the blessing of two-wheeled travel, catching all the little things in life that get passed by with no notice while isolated in a car.

...how's that for a run on sentence! ;)

    1. Kari,
I love run on sentences. It looked fine until you pointed it out.

  2. Keith,

You pass through a different world in the saddle, almost like shifting into another dimension, a parallel world like ours, but not quite.

PS, contrats on the mileage. No small feat on a small machine.

    1. Yes, Brady, there is a different world that opens up when I'm riding. I do think it has a lot to do with the just being out in it and not enclosed.

Thanks for the congrats. When best crusing speed is 35-40mph it takes a little longer to get there.

  3. You hit the nail on the head that time. We see so many things on two wheels we just don't notice on 4.

And smells, don't forget the smells on two wheels.

    1. Yes, the smells. I won't forget about the smells although occasionally I liked to. For me all the senses are heightened when I ride.

  4. As the weather warms up and we riders start to straighten up our cold, shivering, slouch from a long cold winter behind the windscreen and soak up the warm spring sun on our backs we will begin to see much more. Yay for riding and congratulations on the mile marker.

    1. I love the image you weave of the rider unfolding into Spring. Wonderful.

Thanks for the congratulations on the mileage. It has been a life changing experience for me.

  6. You might have noticed the last flowers while driving...but would you have stopped for a picture? ;)

    1. Lori,
I very much doubt I'd have stopped to take a picture...nor, could I have turned around in the alley where the bush with the red berries was with near the ease I did with Billie.

  7. Dear Keith:

Laurel and Hardy made a number of great movies, but every one of W.C. Fields' was a classic. The traditional presentation of Fields, as he appears in this store window, is from the cinema classic "David Copperfield," in which he played "Micawber." It was his favorite role.

Glad you got out. I am now bikeless for a while.

    Fondest regards,

    1. Jack,
I, too, am a lover of W.C. Fields. His physical comedy was superb. Some of the things he could do with a pool cue for example. A true artist. This collection was in the window of a realtors office.

Bikeless in New Jersy. Doesn't have a nice ring to it.

  8. Just as an fyi, the little bush is a Nandina aka Heavenly Bamboo. A semi-evergreen, multi-stem shrub with colorful foliage and bright red winter berries (although can be toxic), I really like them en mass.
