You Are Less Than You Know

A while back, Martha who publishes the blog  Living Among Tourists asked some interesting questions and issued a challenge. Click here to see the whole post.

She wrote:
"What one photograph not of you would completely represent you? Is that even possible?
 She added:
If you want to take that challenge and post a photo, do! It may take a few days or weeks to come to a well thought conclusion, but you might give it a go.

I've thought...and thought....and thought.

And, here's my response.

  1. Keith, this is just beautiful. I'm right there with you on this. That's a landscape that I say "remembers you". You can't get it out of you because it belongs to you and you belong to it.

Does this also mean you love the idea of moving on to new places? Wanting to stay put, lure of moving on. That's my problem...

    1. Being there was magical, but they way it has followed me and stayed with me has been even more so.

I dislike moving. That said, I've lived in Michigan, Ohio, Chicago, Oklahoma, and now St. Louis. That isn't as much as some, but sure a lot more than I would have thought.

  2. To me that photo says peaceful and serene. I like it.

I tried to find a photo, but just couldn't manage that much self reflection.

    1. I don't think I could have found a photo if I looked for it. I let it find me. People have said I seem to have a peacefulness about me. I think that is true, but there is some strong currents moving under the surface.

  3. It is peaceful and serene, but I'm also seeing the tracks in front which add complexity.

    1. Complexity. Yeah, I suspect there is that and than some :)

  4. I can see you there, Keith. What the others said. Peaceful, quiet, rich with life. The train tracks are interesting. Where will they take you?

    1. "Rich with life." That touches something. Thank you.

Perhaps the question regarding the train tracks isn't' "Where will they take me?" but rather, "What will they bring to me?"

  5. I was leaning towards 'still waters run deep'. And there's more than just the surface reflections. :).

    1. Lori,
Don't lean too far or you might fall in :)

I suspect anyone who knows me would agree there is much going on beneath the surface.

  6. Nice picture Keith, it says a lot. I'm in the same groove as Trobairitz though. Although now that I think of it there's a weird shot of me swimming under water in the pool all distorted by the ripples in the water. Maybe that one comes close.

    1. It was an interesting exercise looking through the photos. As I said, when it was all said and done, the photo chose me.

Did Martha throw a rock in the pool to cause all those ripples?

  7. Pretty scene. Very peaceful. and the inclusion of the railroad tracks is interesting. A secret wish to ride away from this peaceful spot and seek adventure?

and a side note...the looks like a great place to kayak!

    1. I tend to welcome the life that comes to me more than seek out adventure. I wasn't eager to leave that place. And, I'm not so eager to go back. I'll just keep it with me.

Kayak? Don't know, but I suspect you're correct.

  9. Revisiting this (Keith has just got to be amused no end at all of this!)one more time, and distancing myself from my own emotional draw to the landscape, I have to conclude that this image does represent calm and deeper thoughts. The tracks may have been incidental, but they DO represent transportation! This is all a bit of a Rorschach test!

In any case, if this was my chosen photo I would have had to throw a big rock in the water because I always cause ripples.

    1. And, I'm quite willing to believe you when you say you are always causing ripples. This is not a bad thing :)

  10. I don't know if I'm more of a canoe on the water or bike in the hills kind of guy. I think it's terribly difficult to nail down a life like this, but at the same time can be a lot of fun to try. Maybe I'm just difficult.

    1. Brady,
It is impossible to nail down a life in anyway. Still it can be interesting to try. Hopefully, a little bit more of the who is this one called Keith~Circle Blue has been revealed.

And, if not. We got to talk about a neat photo/heart place.

You difficult? Say it ain't so. :)

  11. Keith:

I am at a loss to come up with an appropriate photo. I am organized, plan ahead and think about efficiencies. Perhaps some books, neatly stacked on shelves in perfect order by size or thickness, or perhaps arranged by colour
