It's Not Christmas, Nor Is It My Birthday, But...

A new scooter showed up today.

It has a radiator.

It doesn't run without a carburetor. And, it didn't run so well with the idle jet blocked. But it is all better now.

Yes, Billie has company.

The new kid is a 2010 Kymco People 250S. I am its first owner. There were only 7km on the clock when I picked it up.

  1. Very nice bike Keith. Are you planning to alternate? I'm looking forward to your posts comparing and contrasting the two.

    1. David,
The plan is for the Symba to be the main go to work ride. The Kymco is for those rides that were a challenge for the Symba. Different tools. There are limitations to both. Hopefully, I will be able to articulate those as they clarify. I hope to have a chance to spend much time with the Kymco this weekend, but there is much going on. We'll see.

  3. Mighty pretty that bike. Congrats on the new "family member". I hope Billie doesn't get jealous.
Looking forward to your first road reports on the 250. You will be as fast as a rocket!

    1. Sonja,
I spent a little time on the bike Sunday, but not much. I hope to get all the legal stuff set this week. It is a busy weekend, still I suspect I'll get out and about some. And, yes, when the light changes from red to green it is definitely a different experience.

  4. Whoa! What fun! And a good looking scooter, too. Good for you getting such a deal. We are all waiting to hear how the scooter performs.

    1. Martha,
And, I'm waiting to see how the scooter performs, too. The little bit I sneaked Sunday suggests this scooter is going to be a hoot to ride.

  5. Keith:

That's great news. This should increase your radius to bring you farther afield.

and Red is the fastest colour, but you already knew this

    1. bob,
Yes, it will increase my range, but most importantly it will take me easily over the Missouri River to visit my Son and his family. When I bought the Symba I thought it could do the trip, and it can, but I don't feel safe. Just from the little riding I did Sunday I can tell making it over the River will be easy going for the Kymco.

Wow is that ever pretty! She is a saucy looking little wench - lol . Have you thought of a name for her yet? I love the look of the Kymcos, they are really nice looking scoots. 7 km wow! I hope Billie doesn't get jealous, because I know my little vino is ticked, I haven't ridden her since I got my bike back on the road. I just prefer the higher profile in traffic and the acceleration in traffic. You will notice a difference between the two and don't be too surprised if you are riding your Kymco more than Billie.

I agree with Bob - red is the fastest colour. Congratulations on your new scooter love, just have a wee chat with Billie and tell her that you still love her and she will always be your girl. Happy Scooting!

    1. Dar,
Billie is my ride to work bike. She does that ride superbly and with great economy. She isn't going to set idle. Actually, I think she is going to be relieved to be able to ride her ride. I've rode her pretty hard on some of the hills around here--I call them second gear hills. I'm looking forward to not always looking for a place to pull over so the parade we've been leading up the hill can pass.

Yes, the Kymco has a name and I will post about it. It is a busy time and it may be a while before I can get to it.

    1. Lori,
Thanks for the well wishes. I'm very much looking forward to being able to ride Billie in those situations where she shines. The new scoot certainly isn't going to be making any parades on blue highways. Poor Billie seemed to always start a parade whenever we got to any good sized hill.

    1. Deb,
Everyone I know who has had a Kymco has loved it. It's a very different ride than Billie and can do things Billie can't...and, I still have my Billie for all the wonderful things she does.

      Was it easier to post?
